Diary of a Diva - 22nd October
Saturday 22nd October
WOW! WHAT A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE!
Just returned from singing at Derby Cathedral. The Divas were part of a very varied programme at a Charity Gala Concert in aid of Women's Work, a charity based in Derby. We had such fun and we were totally wowed by the other performers that filled the evening with music, comedy, poetry and dancing. The Divas were asked to kick start the programme off so we sang 'Feelin' Good' and 'Climb Every Mountain'. The acoustics in Derby Cathedral are amazing and was a wonderful experience for the Divas that hadn't sung there before.
The highlight of the first half was when the 'Women's Work' choir sang. These were the women that the charity supports and it took courage and spirit to stand up on that stage and sing. A standing ovation was a fitting finish for their songs.
After an interval filled with tasty edibles and chatting we were entertained by some talented performers before we closed the show with 'One Day Like This' - a first airing for this latest song in our repertoire and then 'Parting Glass'.
Tonight is what our hobby is all about. Having the ability to be able to gift our services to support worthwhile causes like this. As a group of women we are generally blessed and it felt appropriate to support a charity which supports women that are struggling with a variety of issues in their lives.
Well done to the team from Women's Work for all their organising and we hope you raised a well deserved pot of money to fund your work.
Til next time and don't forget..........keep singin'!
